A detailed history of W.F. Young, Inc.

Our story began out of a deep love of horses. In fact, very few people have ever understood and appreciated what the horse has done for mankind like Wilbur Fenelon Young. He knew that without the horse, America would be a very different place.

Appropriately enough, in 1892 Wilbur decided to dedicate his life to helping keep horses as healthy as possible. With the help of his wife, Mary Ida, he developed a natural formula of herbs and essential oils that became Absorbine® Veterinary Liniment.

As the popularity of Absorbine® grew, some farmers began to realize that it relieved their own muscle pain as well. When word of this reached Wilbur, he developed Absorbine Jr.®, which was specially formulated to provide similar relief for the human body. Today, it is still found in more homes than any other liquid pain reliever.

Now some 118 years later, our line of products has grown considerably but we haven’t forgotten our roots. We remain committed to offering a variety of high quality products that can effectively improve the well being of both people and horses. Obviously we’ve come a long way, but W.F. Young’s spirit will always be a part of our bloodline.
